Während der Link eines Banners oder einer anderen Online-Werbeform meistens auf die Startseite der Homepage des Werbetreibenden gerichtet ist, besteht die Möglichkeit, speziell für gezielte Kampagnen wie Produkteinführungen (oder falls der Werbetreibende keine eigene Homepage betreibt) sogenannte campaign sites zu generieren: Kleinere Homepages, oft nur wenige Seiten, die in der Regel nur während der Dauer einer Kampagne geschalten werden. Dort können den Interessierten schnell spezielle Informationen angeboten werden, ohne ihn mit der manchmal sehr vielschichtigen Angebotspalette der eigentlichen Homepage zu überfordern.
